Learning to live authentically is what The 40 Day Soul Fast is all about. In this first lesson, we will focus on Transforming, Cleansing, Aligning, Preparing, and Loosing. These topics provide the framework for each of the 40 characteristics of an authentic person: Awareness, Godliness, Truth, Commitment, and Patience.
Fasting is about restraining your natural pleasures and breaking the cycle of stressful living by taking the time to seek God’s face. God has the power to break through the clutter that masks your identity, distracts your focus, and keeps you from the abundant life that Jesus died to provide.
While emotions are a God-given gift, we must protect oursoul should from being controlled by them. The key isn’t to deny or repress your feelings—but to control them.
Your thoughts are all of the ways you are conscious of reality—they form your reality—your memories, beliefs, ideas, and images. You will never accomplish greater things than your thinking will allow. But changing your thinking is a matter of Believing, Receiving, Focusing, Envisioning, and Conquering.
Who are you really? Most of us are so focused on what we do day-to-day that we don’t stop to ask who we are created to be. If we focus more on our character—rather than our career or the company we keep—we would be live more meaningful and impactful lives.
If you work in union with God, your words frame your world with great power and authority. Learning to live authentically means learning to speak truthfully about who you really are so that what you say and do align with your core values and divine nature.
In a previous lesson we looked at who we are regarding our identity apart from what we do. In this lesson, we will focus on the part our actions play in the people we are.
In this final lesson, we are talking about the power of love at work in our lives. Truly authentic people reach a place where the love of God is activated in their lives and in their dealings with others. Love is the capstone on this eight-lesson journey—the greatest expression of your most authentic self.
A personal blessing from Dr. Cindy Trimm.
